About
AI Systems Architect · Founder, Business Tech Lab
Zakia Ringgold designs structured digital operating environments for small businesses, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs — combining technology, learning, media, and community into systems that help organizations move from understanding tools to actually implementing them.

Biography
Zakia Ringgold is an American entrepreneur, instructional designer, and technology strategist based in the United States. She is the founder and principal of Business Tech Lab, a consulting and SaaS company that designs structured digital operating environments for small businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations. Ringgold is recognized for her work in AI literacy, digital infrastructure design, and the development of the CLIMB Framework™ — a proprietary methodology for guiding organizations through technology adoption.
Ringgold began her career as an Instructional Designer and Subject Matter Expert, implementing enterprise Learning Management Systems (LMS) within corporate environments. This experience established her foundational understanding of how organizations adopt structured digital learning at scale and the consequences of skipping that structure. The principles she developed in enterprise settings would later inform her approach to small business and nonprofit technology consulting.
When Ringgold launched Natural Soap by Zakia, an e-commerce and educational brand for soap makers, she was required to build her own digital infrastructure from scratch. Enterprise-grade tools were cost-prohibitive, so she adapted instructional design methodology to bootstrapped environments — developing e-commerce systems, email marketing workflows, livestream engagement strategies, and online education platforms independently. This experience demonstrated that enterprise-level systems thinking could be applied effectively at small business scale.
As other entrepreneurs sought guidance on building their digital presence, Ringgold launched Live Soap School, an online education platform for soap makers and creative entrepreneurs. The platform served as a proving ground for her model of combining media, community, and structured learning inside a single digital environment — a model she would later formalize as Experience Architecture.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ringgold's expertise in livestreaming and digital community management positioned her to help organizations recreate meaningful digital environments at a time of rapid, forced transition. This work led to the creation of Virtual Experience Design Agency, through which she identified a recurring pattern: organizations did not lack tools — they lacked orientation. They did not know which systems they needed, how those systems should connect, or how to build the internal capacity to operate them sustainably.
This discovery became the foundation of Business Tech Lab, which Ringgold founded to address the gap between technology availability and technology implementation. Business Tech Lab offers AI literacy programs, 90-day digital operating system implementation engagements, speaking and training services, and the VEDA suite of SaaS tools — including VEDA Email (email marketing), VEDA Social (social media scheduling), and VEDA Booking (online appointment and payment systems). Each VEDA tool is available as a self-managed platform or as a fully managed done-for-you service.
Ringgold hosts Business Tech Unraveled, a podcast covering artificial intelligence, technology strategy, and small business operations, distributed on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. She also hosts Soap Makers Tale, a podcast for the handcrafted soap and cosmetics community. She is a sought-after speaker on AI adoption, digital infrastructure, and entrepreneurship systems, and has developed several signature frameworks and training programs through Business Tech Lab.
